Section 1
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or submit content on Relatable. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
Relatable is not intended for, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, their account will be immediately terminated and any content they submitted will be removed.
You must also have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. If you are using Relatable on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these terms.
Section 2
Relatable is a peer storytelling platform. It is a space for people to share anonymous personal stories about their lived experiences and to connect with others who can relate.
Relatable is not a crisis line, a therapy service, a medical platform, or a substitute for professional mental health care. Nothing on Relatable should be interpreted as medical, psychological, legal, or professional advice of any kind.
If you are in crisis or in immediate danger, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline. In the US, call or text 988.
The experiences shared on Relatable belong to the individuals who wrote them. Relatable does not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or safety of any story or content shared by users.
Section 4
The following content is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in immediate removal of content and permanent termination of your account.
Threats or incitement to violence. Any content that threatens, encourages, or glorifies violence against any person or group — including yourself.
Harassment or targeted abuse. Content designed to intimidate, shame, bully, or harm a specific person, whether named or identifiable.
Hate speech. Content that attacks, dehumanizes, or promotes hatred toward people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.
Identifying others without consent. Real names, locations, employers, relationships, or any detail that could identify a specific living person — even if what you're saying about them is true.
Graphic self-harm content. You may write about your experience of struggling — but you may not describe specific methods of self-harm or suicide in a way that could instruct or encourage others.
Content involving minors in harmful contexts. Any sexual, exploitative, or harmful content involving anyone under 18. Such content will be immediately removed and reported to the appropriate authorities.
Misinformation that could cause harm. False medical claims, dangerous instructions, or fabricated crisis scenarios intended to deceive or manipulate others.
Spam, advertising, or solicitation. Links, promotional content, affiliate links, service offers, or attempts to recruit users to other platforms or services.
Impersonation. Claiming to be someone you are not, or misrepresenting professional credentials (e.g., claiming to be a therapist, doctor, or crisis counselor).
Defamation. False statements of fact about an identifiable person that could damage their reputation.
Copyright or intellectual property violations. Submitting content that belongs to someone else without permission.
Section 5
Anonymity is the foundation of what makes Relatable work. Users share because they trust this space is safe. Violating that trust — for yourself or others — is taken very seriously.
Do not include your own real name, location, employer, or any identifying detail in your story.
Do not include identifying details about other people — even to describe something they did to you.
Do not attempt to identify, expose, or "dox" any other user on or off the platform.
Do not share screenshots, links, or posts from Relatable in a way that connects a story to a real-world identity.
Attempts to deanonymize users — whether through the platform or externally — will result in an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to law enforcement where applicable.
Section 6
All stories and content on Relatable are submitted by individual users. Relatable does not create, verify, or editorially control user-submitted content.
Relatable makes no representations about the accuracy, truthfulness, completeness, or reliability of any user-submitted story or content. Stories reflect the individual perspectives and experiences of their authors. Relatable is not responsible for any decisions made by users based on content they read on the platform.
The views expressed in user stories are those of the individual authors and do not represent the views of Relatable or its team. The presence of a story on the platform does not constitute endorsement of its content.
While we moderate content against these guidelines, we cannot guarantee that all content on the platform complies with them at all times. We rely on users to report content that violates these terms.
Section 7
You retain ownership of the stories you write and submit. You are not transferring copyright to Relatable by sharing here.
However, by submitting content to Relatable, you grant Relatable a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and store your content on the platform for the purpose of operating the service. This includes displaying your story to other users and storing it on our servers.
This license ends when you delete your story from the platform, except where copies have already been made as part of normal platform operations (such as backups).
You represent and warrant that you have the right to grant this license — meaning the story is your own original work and does not infringe on anyone else's rights.
Section 8
Nothing on Relatable — including stories shared by users, any platform features, or any communications from Relatable — constitutes medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, or any other form of professional advice.
Relatable is a peer storytelling place. The people sharing here are sharing their own lived experiences, not providing guidance or treatment. Reading a story that relates to your situation is not a substitute for seeking qualified professional help.

Section 9
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Relatable and its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for:
Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Relatable
Any harm resulting from content submitted by other users on the platform
Any decisions or actions you take based on content you read on Relatable
Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the service
Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your content or account
Any loss or damage to your mental, emotional, or physical health arising from use of the platform
Relatable is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free from harmful content.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for certain damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Section 10
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Relatable and its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
Your use of the platform
Content you submit, including any claims that it violates a third party's rights
Your violation of these guidelines or terms
Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
Section 11
Relatable reserves the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines, at our sole discretion, at any time and without prior notice.
Stories under 100 words are automatically rejected before publishing — no account impact
Content flagged by users is reviewed within 24 hours
Removed content will not be reinstated, even if the author believes it did not violate the guidelines
We will not disclose who reported a piece of content, ever
If your story is removed, you'll receive a brief note explaining why. A first-time, non-severe violation will not result in a ban — but repeated violations will.
Content that results in an immediate permanent ban without warning: threats of violence, content involving minors in harmful contexts, attempts to deanonymize other users, or any content that may require reporting to law enforcement.
Section 12
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, your stories will be removed from public view. Some data may be retained for a limited period for legal, safety, or operational reasons, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Relatable reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account, with or without notice, for any violation of these terms, or at our discretion where we believe a user's presence poses a risk to this place or to the platform.
Users who have been banned may not create new accounts. Circumventing a ban by creating a new account will result in the new account being terminated as well.
Section 13
We may update these guidelines and terms of use from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users via the platform.
Your continued use of Relatable after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with updated terms, your recourse is to stop using the platform and delete your account.
Section 14
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which Relatable operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Relatable shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Section 15
Relatable is a peer place, not a mental health service. The people here are sharing their own experiences — they can relate, they can listen. They are not therapists and should not be treated as such.
